DEACON DANIEL DIXON Obituary

Life Reflections

According to the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Among these are:

A TIME TO BE BORN: Deacon Daniel Dixon was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Avar 1. Dixon and Emily Horne on April 12, 1949. Daniel was preceded in death

by his sister Sarah Dixon.

A TIME TO PLANT: At an early age, Daniel accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior under the leadership of Elder Moss and became a member of Union Temple Holiness Church, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Upon relocating to Plant City, FL in 1988 with his wife, Daniel joined Progressive Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Benjamin Broderick. His love for the Lord and willingness to serve was apparent to all and recognized by Elder Broderick. As a willing vessel fit for the Master's use, Daniel became an ordained Deacon in 1988. He would often do his Holy Dance, and shout by hopping on one leg.

A TIME TO LOVE: Daniel met the love of his life, Barbara Jean Griffin, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on November 1, 1985. To this union they had one daughter, Miracle Danielle Dixon (Plant City, Florida) who was the apple of his eye.

The Lord also blessed this union with two sons, Lorenzo Washington (Burbank, California) and Devon Washington (Brandon, Florida).

Daniel instilled in his children and grandchildren a Godly foundation. He taught and reminded them that "a man should always love his family and be a great provider".

A TIME TO DIE: Daniel retired to his eternal home at 5 p.m. on March 4, 2024.

Daniel was educated in the Ben Hill County public school system in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He was employed for 20 years by the Ben Hill County Board of Commissions until he relocated to Plant City, Florida in 1988. He then became employed by the Hillsborough County Board of Commissions as a Tree Maintenance Engineer until his retirement in 2015.

Daniel had a great love for his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy a loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Barbara Jean Dixon; one daughter-Miracle Danielle Dixon (Plant City, FL); two sons-Lorenzo Washington (Burbank, CA) and Devin Washington (Brandon, FL); two uncles-Starlin Horne (Fitzgerald, GA) and Onnie Worth (Winter Heaven, FL); two aunts -Margret Brown (Tampa, FL) and Classie McKenzie (Plant City, FL); nine sister in laws-Martha Ann Bowers, Sarah Stevens (Calvin), Lulu Mae Harrison (Joseph), Brenda Griffin, Nadine Griffin, Johanna Griffin, A.
